Week 2

This week in our class discussions we talked about some of the family trends that are going on today. Some trends consist of high cohabitation rates, people waiting longer to get married, having fewer children, while household sizes have gotten lower, and the rate of divorce is high, and more. It's sad to see how much family trends have changed through  out time. All of these not only effect the family but also effects the economy, community and the norms. I have seen the effects of the media trying to change the norms of family trends. I believe media has been the strongest factor in trying to change the ways we see things. I have noticed how more and more shows these days are trying to change how we see homosexuals. In many shows now on television there is for the most part at least one character who is gay. Not only are they doing that they are also trying to change the way we view cohabitation. The media is slowly but surely changing our way of thinking. I hope this comes to a stop sometime but until they do, and most likely it will get worse I will try to protect and advocate for future generations.

Week 1

Finally got through the first week of the semester. I must say it was a long one but I did learn a lot in one week; now imagine a whole semester! This week in FAML 160 I learned more about the learning model and how to find good research sources. We had also discussed about how some research can be bias. What I got about of that discussion was that most studies are bias. As for the assignments I liked the videos we had to watched about on how to narrow down a search and how to figure out if the source is credible. I think this will help me not only in this class but in all my classes for all my research assignments.
